The most ski expeditions to the South Pole by an individual is six, achieved by Hannah McKeand (UK) between 4 November 2004 and 9 January 2013. This was equalled by Devon McDiarmid (Canada) between November 2002 and 9 January 2023.


McKeand's expeditions were as follows:

- 4 Nov 2004 to 29 Dec 2004 – as part of a team - Hercules Inlet to geo SP – 55 days/1,130 km (with resupplies)

- 19 Nov 2006 to 28 Dec 2006 – solo – Hercules Inlet to geo SP – 40 days/1,130 km (unsupported); this was at the time also the female record for the fastest solo, unsupported journey to the South Pole

- 19 Nov 2009 to 27 Dec 2009 – as part of a team – Ronne-Filchner Ice Shelf to geo SP – 38 days/890 km (with resupplies)

- 26 Nov 2010 to 11 Jan 2011 – as part of a team - Hercules Inlet to geo SP – 47 days/1,130 km (with resupplies)

- 26 Nov 2011 to 3 Jan 2012 – as part of a team – Ronne-Filchner Ice Shelf to geo SP – 39 days/890 km (with resupplies)

- 30 Nov 2012 to 09 Jan 2013 – as part of a team – Ronne-Filchner Ice Shelf to geo SP – 41 days/890 km (with resupplies)

McDiarmid's expeditions were as follows:

- Nov 2002 to 2 Jan 2003 – as part of a team (assistant guide to Matty McNair) - Hercules Inlet to geo SP

- 12 Nov 2007 to 28 Dec 2007 – as part of a team - Hercules Inlet to geo SP (unsupported)

- 26 Nov 2010 to 15 Jan 2011 – as part of a team with Indian Army (co-guide with Svante Strand) - Hercules Inlet to geo SP (unsupported)

- 2 Dec 2013 to 12 Jan 2014 – as part of a team - Messner Start to geo SP

- 9 Dec 2015 to 15 Jan 2016 – as part of a team - Messner Start to geo SP (also guided a snow-kite journey as second leg from SP to Hercules Inlet)

- 24 Nov 2022 to 9 Jan 2023 – as part of a team - Messner Start to geo SP (lead guide on Inspire 22 medical research expedition)

McDiarmid was also the guide on a 2004 SP expedition but he had to be medevaced before reaching the pole after suffering a severe cut.
