The tallest twisting building is the Shanghai Tower, located in Shanghai, China. This mixed-use building is 632 m (2,073 ft) tall, and its 128 floors twist a total of 120 degrees between the ground floor and the roof. The Shanghai Tower was structurally topped out on 2 September 2014 and officially completed on 2 February 2015.

The Shanghai Tower is the second tallest building in the world, behind only the Burj Khalifa. Its twisting shape deflects wind loads, allowing the it to be built with less steel bracing and a less pronounced taper than comparable structures.

The Council on Tall buildings and the Urban Habitat defines a "twisting" building as one that progressively rotates its floor plates or its façade as it gains height. Each floor is typically similar in size and shape, and is turned on a shared axis a consistent number of degrees from the floor below.
