With members in 77 countries, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is the world’s largest environmental educational organization. Recognized by UNESCO and UNEP as a world-leader within the fields of Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development, FEE currently runs five core programmes. Their educational programmes use a solution-based approach to empower young people to create a more environmentally conscious world. According to Blue Flag – an international voluntary programme that requires beaches to adhere to strict criteria regarding water quality, environmental management and education, safety and accessibility – the country with the most Blue Flag Beaches is Spain, with 566 as of 30 August 2019. In second place was Greece with 498 Blue Flag Beaches, and third was Turkey with 455, as of the same date.
