Professor Richard Bardgett is the President of the British Ecological Society and also Professor of Ecology at the University of Manchester, UK. Areas of expertise include plant-soil interaction and grassland ecosystems. A Senior Editor for the Journal of Ecology, he has published more than 260 scientific papers as well as several books, including Earth Matters: How Soil Underpins Civilization (2016).
