One extremely lucky Norwegian household has plenty to celebrate after setting a world record for the most members of one family to win a national lottery.

Teenager Tord Oksnes became the third incredibly fortunate member of his family to hit the jackpot in the Norwegian National Lottery when he won 12.2 million kroner (£1.3 million) earlier this month.

Three years previously, Tord's sister Hege Jeanette won 8.2 million kroner (£880,000), while three years before that, their father Leif won 8.4 million kroner (£900,000).

"I actually have a bit of a guilty conscience about winning so much money," Tord Oksnes told local newspaper Bergens Tidende. "I'm sure there's somebody who could have done with the money more than me."

Despite the massive win, the 19-year-old still plans to continue his job as a trainee technician at a local energy firm in his home town of Austevollthe, and was even reluctant to take a day off to celebrate.

Asked about her 8.2-million kroner (£880,000) lottery win, Hege Jeanette said that the secret to winning the jackpot was "getting pregnant" as two of the family's lottery wins took place within hours of her giving birth.
