The fastest 1 km pushing a pram is 3 min 19 sec, achieved by Jamie Hesford (UK), in Manchester, UK, on 13 January 2022.

Jamie attempted this record with his daughter Winter in the pram/buggy.

He spent around three months preparing for the attempt. His training involved two runs per week with the pram, one on hills in the park and another on a running track.

He says running with a pram is much more difficut than he originally expected. His forearms needed training, as you have to control your arms when holding onto the handles. The pram also does not move as feely as you would like and there is a lot of friction between the wheels and the track. Jamie likens it to pushing a sled.

He hopes to achieve the one mile record too at some point. "It would be nice to attempt a world record once a year to bond with my daughter. It would be good to look back at the progression as we age. Who knows, if we keep going long enough in consecutive years that could be a record in itself!!! I just hope she’s a fan of the GWR annual books like I always have been."

On achieving a Guinness World Records title, Jamie said: "To share my running passion with my baby is everything to me as I’m keen for her to live an active lifestyle when she’s older. Ultimately my aim is to inspire her when she’s older to continue running or take up another sport she enjoys. If she can participate in a world record before she turns 1, she’ll have no excuses when she’s older."
