How long does it take?

The length of time for the application process and then the evidence review for the attempt itself depends on the type of application you have selected. Here you can find information on the different application options and the timeframes for the application process and the evidence review.

Application process

The first stage of the process requires us to review your proposal against our large database of records. You will then either be informed if you have been accepted under your chosen title, given a suggested similar alternative record title, or rejected. If you are accepted then you will be sent a set of record guidelines and an information pack detailing the rules for the record and the evidence we require in order to verify your attempt. The timeframe for this stage depends on the type of application you opt for.

Standard application

Due to the volume of applications we receive our standard application process currently takes up to 12 weeks.

*Please note: Sometimes the 12 weeks waiting time is extended during high demand. Please refer to our to our current waiting times for the most up to date information.

Priority Application

If you need a speedy reply, we offer a Priority Application service for your individual record application. If you choose the Priority service, Guinness World Records will respond to you within five working days (as opposed to the usual 12 weeks). The Priority Application service for existing titles costs £500 / $800 US / €630 (plus VAT where applicable), while the cost for new titles is £650 / $1,000 US / €820.

*Please note: this service guarantees that your application is given priority for review. However, in instances where you are suggesting a new record title, this service does not guarantee that your application will be accepted.

Submitting Evidence

The second stage of the application process happens after your attempt has taken place and requires you to submit your evidence to us for review. Once you have submitted your evidence for a record attempt, there will be an evidence review period. The timeframe for this stage will also depend on the type of application you have opt for.

Standard application

It can take up to 12 weeks for us to review your documentation and let you know if your record attempt has been accepted as the new record holder or rejected.

*Please note: Sometimes the 12 weeks waiting time is extended during high demand.  Please refer to our to our current waiting times for the most up to date information.

Priority Evidence Review

Alternatively, you can purchase our Priority Evidence Review service to prioritise the review of the evidence and the approval or rejection of your record attempt. The Priority Evidence Review service is only available AFTER we have received your full evidence, and will ensure that your evidence is reviewed within 5 working days.

The Priority Evidence Review service costs £350 / $550 US / €440 (plus VAT where applicable).

Please note: this service guarantees that your evidence is given priority for review. However, it does not guarantee that your attempt will be approved as a new record holder. Please also note that if your evidence is incomplete then this can also lead to a delay or even a rejection.
