The most rotating puzzle cubes solved one-handed while hula hooping is 531, and was achieved by Josiah Plett (Canada), in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on 20 February 2021.
After seeing a previous holder achieve a total of 30 cubes on the news, Josiah realised that he could beat it and got 35 cubes on his first try before stopping voluntarily.
A lot of effort was put into planning the event and following the guidelines as strictly as he could. He got a dozen acquaintances together who helped run the livestream, act as witnesses and regulators who scrambled, counted and passed the cubes. They even treated themselves to a fun pizza lunch.
