Influencer-marketing-strategy-world-records

The process of attempting and achieving a Guinness World Records title is an ideal opportunity to create engaging and shareable content across any brand’s social media platforms.

While the idea of working with social media influencers to promote your brand is nothing new, you might not have considered teaming up with them to break a world record.

With investment bankers Goldman Sachs projecting the creator economy could grow to half a trillion dollars by 2027, there's never been a better time to get on board with influencer marketing. So, what exactly is it?

It's strategies like brands working with someone who has a big following on social media, or a content creator who can help them reach specific business goals.

Ultimately, it is a collaboration where both sides look to expand their audience reach, mostly through digital channels.

By creating a record-breaking campaign, both your brand and the influencer can reach new audiences in an entertaining and thrilling way.

Here is how it works...

Join forces and achieve the unimaginable

When your team’s passion meets the entrepreneurial spirit of a social media influencer, you can expect to reach the most amazing goals.

Take the case of Airrack, a well know influencer who in 2023 teamed up with Pizza Hut to break one of the most challenging world records out there: largest pizza. Together, they built an over-sized pizza measuring 1,296.72 m² (13,957.77 ft²).

The previous record holder was Dovilio Nardi, Italy, who led a team to make a pizza measuring 1,261.65 m² in Rome, Italy, on 13 December 2012. Which means that the record was unbeaten for over 10 years, making this effort even more spectacular.

Team up with influencers that are already Guinness World Records title holders

What better example than the recent collaboration between Guinness World Records legend Sam Ramsdell and the San Antonio Zoo for a fun summer event.

Sam, who has the largest mouth gape (female) and widest mouth (female), joined in the fun as the Texas zoo staged a special event for all the family.

Wild World Records invited people to try out some record-breaking activities as well as come face-to-face with record holder Sam.

Renovate your marketing strategies through record-breaking campaigns

That’s what the snacks brand Lays did, with a little help of a reggaeton super star and a science experiment.

Moved by international urban music powerhouse Anitta, and her hit “Envolver” and inspired by a simple science experiment, Lay’s decided to use potato-generated power to record a remix of the song and achieve the Guinness World Records title for highest wattage from a potato battery.

On 16 December 2022, ZyynLabs and Frito-Lay North America (both USA) achieved the world record in a studio in Los Angeles, California. The campaign has reached over 996 million total impressions.

Support those who are ready to break the glass ceiling

Audiences want to be entertained and witness the attempts of daring people who can push the limits.

A recent poll run on our LinkedIn page, suggested that spectacular feats or stunts is still one of our most popular categories.

This should be great news for brands who want to work with and support hard-working athletes, acrobats, and other brave people to reach new limits.

Take the example of Laura Enever, a woman who recently reached new highs in a traditionally male-dominated sport: big wave surfing. Enever broke the record for largest wave surfed paddle-in (female) when she surfed a ginormous wave that reached an incredible 13.3 m (43.6 ft).

This record helped shine a spotlight on the World Surf League’s Big Wave championships, especially for the female division.
