The fastest police car in service is the Bugatti Veyron, measuring 407 km/h (253 mph), achieved by the Dubai Police (UAE) in Dubai, UAE in 2016.
To help them keep up with rich businessmen in their speeding sports cars, police in Dubai decided to invest in one of the most powerful production cars on the planet: a Bugatti Veyron. With a blistering top speed of 407 km/h (253 mph), its 1,000-horse-power, 16-cylinder engine launches the car of 0 to 60mph in just 2.5 seconds.
Dubai Police took ownership of their new toy in April 2016 for a modest sum of $1.6 million (£1 million; €1.4 million). It’s not their first supercar – they already own a Lamborghini Aventador. The Veyron, however, is renowned as the second fastest street-legal car in the world, only being pipped by the 427 km/h Hennessey Venom GT.
