The world's deepest oil well is the Z-44 Chayvo Well, situated on the Sakhalin Shelf in eastern Russia, which, on 27 August 2012, reached 40,604 ft (12,376 m) – around 15 times the height of the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. It is operated by Exxon Neftegas.
