The Tiger Woods series might have ruled the roost in recent years, but it was never able to dethrone one of the first golfing games – the functionally titled Golf. This early NES release has sold 4,009,599 units, compared to 2,841,563 of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (EA, 2007), the highest-selling game from EA’s franchise.
Trivia
Following poor sales of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 (EA Tiburon, 2010) – and despite the addition of US Open champion Rory McIlroy on the cover – EA took the decision to drop Tiger Woods’ recognizable face from the front of the follow-up title Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters (EA Tiburon, 2011).
