The most 147 maximum breaks made at the World Snooker Championship is 3, achieved by Ronnie O’Sullivan (UK) in 1997, 2003 and 2008; and Stephen Hendry (UK) in 1995, 2009 and 2012.
The first maximum break at the World Snooker Championship was compiled by Cliff Thorburn in 1983. As of 2018, a total of 10 have been hit (with a further four recorded in qualifying) – together, O’Sullivan and Hendry are responsible for six of these. No other player has hit more than one.
O’Sullivan compiled his first Crucible maximum in just 5 minutes 8 seconds – the fastest 147 break ever recorded in professional competition. Hendry’s 1995 maximum against Jimmy White remains the only one compiled at the one-table stage of the World Championship.
