The most tries scored by an individual player in a Super League season is 40 and was achieved by Denny Solomona (Samoa) playing for the Castleford Tigers from 7 February to 25 September 2016.

Solomona began the season with a try in the very first game against Hull Kingston Rovers and finished with a superb hat-trick in the final game of the regular season against Widnes Vikings. He broke Vainikolo's record on 17th September by scoring twice against Catalans in Perpignan to take his total to 37.

He finished with 42 tries overall (two were in the Challenge Cup), which broke the long-standing club record held by Jon Ellis from the 1993–94 season.
