According to MSNBC, the top Internet meme of 2009 was Kanye West’s antics during the MTV Music Awards in New York, USA, on 13 September 2009. West grabbed the mic from award winner Taylor Swift, proclaiming another artist should have won. Kanye West’s outburst led to the ‘Ima let you finish’ meme. In second place was the 'Crasher Squirrel', in which Melissa Brandts and her husband Jackson were taking a photograph of themselves using a remote timer. During the photograph a squirrel stood in front of the camera and was captured in the photograph.
