The world’s oldest astronomical observatory is a stone circle in Egypt. Sited on an internally drained basin called Nabta Playa, it comprises a number of huge flat, tomb-like stone structures, dates from about 6,500-6,000 years ago, and has been confirmed by American astronomer Prof. J. McKim Malville and his team to be the oldest known astronomical alignment of megaliths in the world.
