The largest cartridges available for a video game were for the N64 and were 512 megabits (64MB) in size. The earliest N64 game to use one of these was Resident Evil 2. This was originally released on PlayStation, where it appeared on two discs. Compressing this onto one N64 cartridge was hailed as a technical triumph.
