SoulCalibur III (Namco, 2005) featured 284 assorted weapons when it sliced its way onto the PlayStation 2 on 25 October 2005.
Subsequent Soul games, namely SoulCalibur IV (Namco Bandai, 2008) and SoulCalibur V (Namco Bandai, 2012), have dished out 238 weapons and 182 weapons respectively, so the benchmark set by SoulCalibur III has yet to be broken.
