The world's largest species of falcon is the gyrfalcon Falco rusticolus. Resident primarily on the Arctic coasts and islands of Europe, Asia and North America, the females are larger than the males, sporting a wingspan of 1.24–1.6 m, weighing 1.2–2.1 kg, and measuring 51–65 cm long.
