According to the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), the heaviest striped mullet (Mugil cephalus cephalus) was caught on 13 March 2009 by Scott Lindner in Upper Laguna Madre, Texas, USA. It weighed 4.71 kg (10 lb 6 oz).
The fish measured 74.23 cm (2 ft 5 in) in length, 37.46 cm (1 ft 2 in) in girth and was caught using assassin bass as bait.
