The most FIFA World Player of the Year awards won by an individual female player is six, by Marta (Brazil, b. Marta Vieira da Silva) in 2006–10 and 2018.
Marta won her sixth FIFA World Player of the Year award (now officially called The Best FIFA Women’s Player) in 2018, capping a year in which she had led Brazil to the Copa América Femenina title. As of 2019, she had won twice as many FIFA World Player of the Year awards as any other player, male or female.
