In total, Smith scored 48 tries and kicked 1,295 goals and four one-point field goals during his record-breaking NRL career, which spanned almost two decades. He scored his first-ever NRL points with a try against Penrith during Round 2 of the 2003 season, and overtook Hazem El Masri’s record of 2,418 points during Melbourne’s 18–12 victory over the North Queensland Cowboys on 12 April 2019.
