The largest nocturnal primate is the aye-aye Daubentonia madagascariensis, endemic to Madagascar, Superficially rodent-like but closely related to lemurs, it averages 65 cm in total length for the male and 63 cm for the female, slightly more than half of which is accounted for by its long bushy tail. Males average 2.7 kg in weight, and females 2.5 kg.
