Of the 72 countries that are home to the world's 2,208 billionaires, the USA has the most, with 585 billionaires. According to Forbes, the combined net worth of these individuals as of March 2018 equals an estimated $9.1 trillion (£6.4 trillion), up 18% on last year.

There are 259 newcomers to the billionaires list. The richest member of the group is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose net worth rocketed up $39 billion (£27 billion) this year – the largest increase in wealth of the 21st century – making him the world's first centibillionaire.
