Organised by the German Extreme Ironing Section (GEIS) and first held in Munich, Germany on 20-21 September 2002, the inaugural Extreme Ironing World Championship was won by Inga Kosak (Germany) with a score of 522.
Participants are scored on both style and textile, and against the clock, over five disciplines: Forest, Water, Rocky, Urban and Freestyle. The next Championships are due to take place in England in 2004.
