Muren won the Visual Effects Oscar for E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (USA, 1982), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (USA, 1984), Innerspace (USA, 1987), The Abyss (USA, 1990), Terminator 2: Judgement Day (USA, 1991), and Jurassic Park (USA, 1993). He also received Special Achievement Awards in 1981 and 1984: for Star Wars: Episode V - the Empire Strikes Back (USA, 1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (US 1983). Muren was given a Technical Achievement Award in 1982.
