A total of 78 people were killed at Sknyliv air base near L'viv, Ukraine, on 27 July 2002, when a Sukhoi Su-27 'Flanker' fighter jet crashed into a crowd of spectators during an air show demonstration.
A Ukrainian state commission concluded that both the pilots and the organisers were to blame, the former for deviating from their flight path, and the latter for ensuring that the spectators weren't better protected.
An initial death toll of 85 was revised down a month after the crash/ disaster.
