The fastest walking speed achieved by a paraplegic person in a powered exoskeleton is 0.23 m/s (0.82 km/h; 0.5 mph), set by Seunghwan Kim and Team KAIST (both KOR) at Cybathlon 2024 on 25 October. The record was achieved using a WalkONSuit F1 prototype developed at the KAIST Exoskeleton Lab in Daejeon, South Korea.

Cybathlon is a competition that brings together the users and developers of new prosthetics and assistive technologies. It is run by a group at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, and aims to foster improved dialogue between the various organizations working on assistive technologies as well as between designers and users. Each team at Cybathlon comprises a "pilot" (who takes part in the events themselves) and a supporting group of engineers, developers and designers.
