On 28 March 2024, Tyler O’Neill (Canada) became the first player in Major League Baseball (MLB) history to hit a home run on five consecutive Opening Day games, doing so for the St. Louis Cardinals from 2020-23 and with the Boston Red Sox in 2024 (both USA).
O'Neill had been tied with three other players who had homered on four consecutive Opening Days: Yogi Berra (1955-58), Gary Carter (1977-80), and Todd Hundley (1994-97).
