At the 44th Golden Raspberry Awards on 9 March 2024, Jon Voight (USA, b. 29 December 1938) won Worst Actor for his portrayal of Patrick Quinn in Mercy (USA, 2023). He was 85 years 71 days old at the time. The octogenarian swerved the Worst Actor award in 1998 after playing Paul Serone in Anaconda (USA, 1997), but the Best Actor Oscar winner (1979, for Coming Home) wasn’t so lucky in 2024.
Voight was derided for his “Lucky Charms leprechaun” Irish accent in Mercy, which also starred Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Leah Gibson.
He is also the oldest Razzies nominee, after being announced as a Worst Actor contender on 22 January 2024, at the age of 85 years 24 days.
The 44th Golden Raspberry Awards, celebrating the film industry’s worst offerings of 2023, were staged in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Voight is the father of actors Angelina Jolie and James Haven.
