The record for the most horns found on any species of mammal is six and belongs to a rare breed of sheep called Jacob sheep, bred in the USA and UK. Both ewes and rams typically grow two or four horns, but six is also common. Amongst sheep that have four horns, one pair usually grows vertically (often over 60 cm, 24 in), the other curls around the side of the head. Jacob sheep also have a distinctive fleece, with adult sheep retaining their black and white spots from birth.
