Jade Hameister (Australia, b. 5 June 2001) was aged 16 years 219 days old when she completed her trek to the South Pole on 10 January 2018. She used a new route, via the Transantarctic Mountain Range, and was guided by Eric Philips.
Hameister’s trek to the South Pole was part of a “polar hat-trick” completed between 2016 and 2018. This comprised reaching the North and South poles and crossing Greenland – the world’s second-largest polar icecap.
Although Hameister was guided during her journey, this does not qualify as “support” according to the Polar Expeditions Classification Scheme (PECS).
