Eric Clapton’s (UK) multiple Grammy-winning 1992 album Unplugged has sold an estimated 26 million copies worldwide. The set was recorded live at Bray Studios near Maidenhead, Berkshire, UK, on 16 January 1992 and includes the single “Tears in Heaven” and an acoustic version of “Layla”.

The 14-track album won six Grammys at the 35th annual awards show on 24 February 1993: Album of the Year and Best Male Rock Vocal Performance (both for Unplugged), Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance (all for “Tears in Heaven”), and Best Rock Song (“Layla”).

As of 25 January 2019, Unplugged had been certified by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments of 10 million units in the USA alone, making it the third-biggest-selling live album in that country. Only Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s 1986 album Live 1975–85 (13 million units) and Garth Brooks’ two-disc set from 1998, Double Live (21 million units), have higher certifications.
