Thaint Wunna Khin, a three year old girl, was one of 19 people, including her mother, who were arrested between July 19 and 24, 1999 in Pegu, central Burma (Myanmar). Thaint Wunna Khin was released on July 29, 1999. The detainees are reported to have been held by the authorities on suspicion of planning a July 19 march to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of General Aung San's assassination. General Aung San was the father of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) opposition party.
