The highest traverse of a slackline took place at an altitude of 2,500 m (8,202 ft) between two hot-air balloons above Riedering in Germany by Lukas Irmler and Friedi Kühne (both Germany) on 9 November 2024.

Irmler and Kühne are multiple-record-breaking slackline athletes. After completing his 19-m-long (62-ft) crossing – at more than 1.5 miles above the ground – Kühne returned to the middle of the line and threw himself back to Earth. "I wanted to skydive off the line at the end," he told reporters afterwards, "which was kind of my personal dream and I think it's the craziest slackline world record Lukas and I have done together so far and we've done a lot of those together."
