BLACKPINK singer/rapper Lisa (Thailand, b. Pranpriya Manobal) won in the Best K-pop category at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in Dusseldorf, Germany, on 13 November 2022 – completing an historic double after winning Best K-pop Video (for “LALISA”) at the MTV Video Music Awards three months earlier. Best K-pop was first contested at the 2021 EMAs, when BTS took the honours in a category that also included BLACKPINK members Lisa and Rosé, girl group TWICE and the male ensembles MONSTA X and NCT 127.

In 2022, Lisa’s fellow Best K-pop contenders were BTS, ITZY, SEVENTEEN, TWICE and her own group. BLACKPINK earned nine EMA nominations in 2019–22. Their only win – in 2022 – was for Best Metaverse Performance (which they also won at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards), for BLACKPINK: The Virtual, an in-game concert in the battle royale PUBG Mobile.
