The world's longest designated hiking trail is the Pacific Crest Trail, which runs for 4,260 km (2,650 miles) along the West Coast of the USA between the Mexican and Canadian borders. The Continental Divide Trail, currently around 70% complete, will be around 5,000 km (3,100 miles) long when finished.

The trail meets the Mexican border near the small town of Campo, California, and the Canadian border near Monument 78, Washington. Around 300 walkers are reported to walk the complete trail each season (i.e. the spring/summer months), but most users simply use sections of it for day hikes or walks lasting several days.
