The first person with autism to compete at the IRONMAN® World Championship is Sam Holness (UK), who competed in the IRONMAN® World Championship 2022 in Kona, Hawaii, USA, on 6 October 2022.

Sam completed the 140.6 triathlon in 13 hr 5 min 44 sec, becoming the first openly autistic person to compete in the event. He is an ambassador for the charity Ambitious About Autism.
