Designed by Swiss sculptor Jean-Pierre Zaugg to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nestlé's Alimentarium museum in Vevey, the 8-m-tall (26-ft 2.4-in) cutlery was first exhibited in the waters of Lake Geneva, Switzerland, in 1995. The stainless-steel fork sculpture was made permanent in 2009 and is embedded 5 m (16 ft 4.85 in) from the lake promenade.
The fork is 1.3 m (4 ft 3.18 in) wide, 0.5 m (1 ft 7.68 in) thick and its weight is estimated at 450 - 500 kg (992 - 1,102 lb).
