The largest freshwater crustacean – and also the largest freshwater invertebrate of any kind – is the Tasmanian or Gould's giant crayfish Astacopsis gouldi. Native to small streams in Tasmania, Australia, it can measure 80 cm, and weigh as much as 5 kg.
