A total of 700 short films were entered for the LEGO® Studios MovieMaking Contest by aspiring directors aged 8-18 between December 2000 and March 2001 using the LEGO® Steven Spielberg MovieMaker Set - the smallest film set in the world, measuring 25 x 25.5 cm (9.84 x 10.03 in).

Twin brothers Eli and Joseph Cull (Canada) won the 8 - 10 age category for their film Where Does All the LEGO Go? which told the tale of what happens to LEGO creations when no one's watching them.
Their film along with the USA's Eric Stripe's Al, Alien Hunter, Germany's Jens Mueller's The Time and Kirsten Brandemayer's The Journey In Legoland (11-13 age category), Canadian Dan Schnick's Adventures in Lego Land (14 - 18 age category) were submitted to the Backyard National Film Festival in a special category 'LEGO® Studios Moviemaking Awards'.
The LEGO® Steven Spielberg Moviemaker Set was awarded two BAFTA's for "Best Interactive Children's product" and "Best Interactive Learning product." on 26 October 2000.
