The fastest standing block chop (chopping through a vertical 35.5 cm (14 in) diameter white-pine log 76 cm (30 in) in length) is held by Melvin Lentz (USA) in a time of 22.05 sec set at the Lumberjack World Championships at Hayward, Wisconsin, USA (founded 1960) in 1988.
