Largest encyclopaedia

The largest online encyclopedia is Wikipedia, which was founded by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger (both USA) as a free online encyclopedia that internet users can add to and edit. Wikipedia.com was launched on 15 January 2001. As of 23 April 2020, it had 6,063,872 articles in English of a total 50,147,602 articles written in 309 languages. Of these, 299 languages are active and 10 are closed.

As of March 2020, Wikipedia attracted around 1.5 billion unique visitors per month.
