The longest running radio programme is Grand Ole Opry, broadcast on WSM Radio in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, since 28 November 1925, a total of 79 years.
The show is a weekly country music programme which goes out on Saturday nights. The programme began life as 'WSM Barn Dance' in the fifth floor radio station studio of the National Life & Accident Insurance Company in Nashville. In September 2004, the show teamed up with a presenting sponsor for the first time and is now know as the Grand Ole Opry presented by Cracker Barrel.
A Norwegian show, "Children's Saturday Show" began broadcasting weekly in 1924, however this was interrupted for five years by the WW2 German occupation, and so has only broadcast for a total of 77 years.
