The largest forested areas in the world are the vast coniferous forests of northern Russia, lying between Lat. 55°N and the Arctic Circle. The total wooded area covers 4 million km² (1,544,408 miles²).
In comparison, the largest area of tropical forest is the Amazon rainforest, covering some 6.475 million km² (2.5 million miles²).
