The oldest Roman Catholic bishop on record was Archbishop Edward Howard (USA), formerly Archbishop of Portland in Oregon, USA (b. 5 November 1877), who died aged 105 years 58 days on 2 January 1983. He had celebrated mass about 27,800 times.
Bishop Herbert Welch (USA) of the United Methodist Church, who was elected a Bishop for Japan and Korea in 1916, died on 4 April 1969 aged 106.
