The longest container ships measure 400 m (1,312 ft 4 in). Several container ships have been measured at this length and it is extremely difficult to distinguish accurately between them. Among those with a stated 400-m length are the Mol Triumph (Marshall Islands), Tihama, Al Dahna, Barzan (all Malta) and Baltic Breeze (Honduras). The length of a number of other container ships, including the MSC Leanne, MSC Rifaya and MSC Viviana (all Liberia), are shorter by mere millimetres.
While there are no regulatory limits in terms of the biggest vessels that various ports and waterways can handle (which might limit the usefulness of bigger designs, even if they were more efficient carriers), 400 m seems to be a standard measure for the largest ships that can dock and carry freight.
