The most race marathons run in one year by a woman is 129, and was achieved by Angela Tortorice (USA) between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013.

Angela began her attempt on 1 September 2012 with the first of the three-day Triple Crown Challenge marathons in San Antonio, Texas, USA, and completed the last of her marathons at the Pocatello Marathon in Pocatello, Idaho, USA, on 31 August 2013. Angela ran the majority of the marathons in her native state of Texas but also managed to run in 18 other states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia and Washington.
