Waschburger started at the Gobbins in Islandmagee, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, at 2.18 a.m. and finished at 10.29 a.m. in Knock Bay, north of Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, UK. He was piloted by Pádraig Mallon. As per ILDSA rules, the route must follow the Admiralty Chart 2198, Southern Part, which measures 18.6 nautical miles (21.5 miles; 35 kilometres).
This smashed the previous record time of 9 hours 9 minutes 30 seconds set by Jordan Leckey (UK) on on 2 August 2021.
