“As It Was” by Harry Styles (UK) logged 16,103,849 streams worldwide on 1 April 2022, according to Spotify’s Global Top 200 daily chart. The lead single from the singer’s third studio album, Harry’s House, attracted some 11.6 million streams more than the runner-up – “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals – as fans were quick to jump on new solo material from the former One Direction star on its first day of availability. Styles posted some impressive first-day numbers across the globe, including 5,953,134 streams in the US, 1,247,683 in the UK and 1,168,896 in Mexico. In all, “As It Was” topped Spotify charts in 34 different countries – from Australia to Venezuela, Iceland and the United Arab Emirates – on 1 April.
“As It Was” shattered Spotify’s male record of 12,384,750 streams, for Drake’s “Girls Want Girls” (feat. Lil Baby) on 3 September 2021, and posted the fourth-highest 24-hour figure overall, behind Adele’s “Easy On Me” (19,749,704 on 15 October 2021) and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (17,420,085 on 24 December 2021 and 17,223,237 on 24 December 2020).
